One month check-in!

Wow!  I can’t believe it’s already been 1 month.

More flowers are blooming even though the days are still a little bit cool, by Texas standards. I have been wearing short sleeved t-shirts though!  I’ve been told this pretty blue flower is called Squill.   It is popping up everywhere, so it must not mind the cold.

We’ve done quite a bit in the past month.

Almost all the boxes are out of the living room and
some art work is even up on the walls.
It’s starting to feel like home.
We had dinner (here I go with the food again!) last weekend with two new friends in an area called Outremont.  The place was called Restaurant Rumi – cuisine of the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia.  David had a huge vegetarian thing that was delicious.  My spicy chicken was tasty, but a little dry.   Not sure why I usually end up liking his dishes better than mine – lol! No matter – the ambiance was great, the service spot-on and the company was delightful.  Before I knew it - three hours had passed.

We took a tour of the YMCA, which is located right next door to our apartment.  They have an indoor swimming pool and all kinds of classes – yoga, Zumba, spinning, weights, etc.  I used my guest pass on a Zumba class, which was really fun - but hard.  I'm torn between having organized classes to keep me motivated to work out vs. taking advantage of the nicer weather to walk and start biking.

I am still adjusting to what "being retired" feels and looks like.  For now - it seems like a really nice long, extended vacation!

Today was the first day in the collective garden.
We got the beds all tilled and ready for planting next week.  This is
just one area of the garden - it is actually more than twice this size.
Turns out - they grow a lot of the same vegetables in Canada

that they do in the US.  Go figure! When it came time to vote
for whether or not to plant "hot" peppers - you know how I
voted on that issue!

One last random picture... I walked past this Buddhist Temple, in the middle of my neighborhood, on my way to the garden this morning.  This city is so multi-cultural - it is really amazing!

Till next time!  Take care!
